Fontvieille was designed by Italian engineer Gianfranco Gilardini with the first cornerstones of the Principality’s newest district being laid by the then Crown Prince Albert of Monaco (now H.S.H Prince Albert II) in 1981. It was created to solve a chronic land shortage in Monaco. The district is home to some of the Principality’s most sought-after apartments which are for the main part located in prestigious waterfront residences with excellent facilities such as swimming pools, fully-equipped gyms and underground parking.
